…we squatted! We invite you to an insurrectional actionweek!
Today the 30.06.2018, the Muffeter Weg 5 in Aachen was occupied. And this is our plan: We want to stay for one week in this building that has been empty for years. This week wants to be full with all kinds of activities. Lets create a space to meet, learn, try, network, fight, talk, read, party and what ever else you want to do!
Why squatting?
There are so many reasons to squat houses. Some do it because they couldnt find an affordable appartment, others need a space to build a social-/ youthcenter or just want to break free from every-day- struggles and to try to find ways to live together differently. People who occupy challenge the way how property is distributed in our society and reclaim their lifes. We think its a legitim thing to do, because cities should provied space for everyone. Its damn unjust that so many people have to live in to small or shitty appartements or dont have a livingpsace at all, while lots of houses are empty and wasted. We don‘t want the city we live in, to be made to a place that mainly looks fancy and where one has to consume all the time. In the mean time there is no space to hang out or to organize oneself that is not surveilled, controlled and way to expensive.
Why here?
We witnessed that the building in the Muffeter Weg 5 and the heated (!) greenhouse that belongs to the house are empty and unused since several years. This situation wont be accepted anymore, so we reclaimed this empty space and we have tons of ideas, what we could do here. Furthermore we dont want to leave this fancy area to villa owners and student fraternities.

During the week there will be a diverse program – some stuff is already prepared, but mostly we want this to be a space where as many people as possible can put their ideas and skills into practice. Therefore: if you are good in gardening or you would like to give some guitar lessons, if you always wanted to know what gentrification is about or you just want to drink a coffee in the sun with some nice people, or whatever else – just do it! We invite everyone who is interested to come over and participate. There is enough space – bring your friends/family/neighbours, have a good time and feel free to organize workshops, discussions, concerts, actions…
